![]() ![]() Outside the courthouse, people are clamoring for the mercs' death some even going as far as hanging dolls which resemble the mercs on a pole with ropes around their necks. Soldier attempts to interrogate an old woman, but Demoman is much friendlier and gets the location easily, discovering that the hanging will take place soon. Soldier and Demoman set out to find the courthouse where the trial against Scout and Spy will take place. He makes small talk and claims he will miss the mercs, offering Scout a pie with a nail file in it as a joke.ĭemoman suits up in a civilian disguise along with Soldier, who is reluctant to pose as a civilian, but eventually agrees. Scout panics, thinking they are in more trouble now, as the mayor of Teufort comes to visit them. A fellow inmate tries to murder Spy as he's eating, but the assailant mysteriously winds up dead with a makeshift knife in his back. Spy keeps calm and eats a ridiculously tiny dinner, which supposedly consists of miniature Cornish game hens. Scout whines at this, remembering the time Soldier was his defense, and an even earlier case in which his defender was, of all things, a lamp. Scout practices his defense, while Spy urges him to take the public defender, as he pulls out most of his teeth. The scene changes to Scout and Spy in prison, discussing their imminent hanging. Mags and Saxton leave, with Mags offering to help Saxton retake his company. Saxton admits that he had planned to ask Darling for help in taking back Mann Co., but his grudge had gotten the best of him. It is revealed that Saxton had been arrested for burning down most of Darling's zoo. ![]() The story cuts to an older Mags and Saxton, standing outside a prison. However, Charles Darling shows up and forcibly takes the panthers, so that he can create his crazy idea, called a "zoo." Saxton vows never to leave her, and claims he won't take his father's position at Mann Co. So everybody wins: Valve, players and seals. The story begins with a young Saxton Hale and his girlfriend Mags, fighting panthers in the jungle. In response to its popularity, the devs behind Selbyen are now planning to donate a portion of profits from the map to the Skegness seal sanctuary. Unsurprisingly, everyone loves the seal - which goes by many names (Silvia is her real name, accoing to the map's lead designer), and has inspired memes, fanart and endless social media discussion. It maintains its delightful expression and aura of majesty, seemingly oblivious to the constant gunfire and bloodshed taking place around it - and, indeed, in its name. The adorable seal is the focus of the map, with the first team feeding it 100 fish winning. Most importantly, one of those 14 community maps, the Scandinavian-inspired fishing village Selbyen, includes a seal that you can feed fish dropped by enemies. Much of Team Fortress 2’s current resurgence is down to the enormous Summer Update released on July 12th, which added over a dozen new community maps and loads of cosmetics - including items, taunts, effects and war paints - plus some more general fixes and improvements. Not bad for a game halfway through its second decade, eh? That means that TF2 has now set all-time records for concurrent players three years running, rising from just under 150,000 players in 2020 to just over that in 2021. Team Fortress 2 hit a peak of 253,997 simultaneous players on July 14th (as per SteamDB), blowing past the previous record of 167,951 set last December. Over a quarter of a million people were playing TF2 at the same time yesterday, almost doubling its previous record - and even that was only set last year, signalling that there’s plenty of life left in the enormously popular shooter yet. The release of Team Fortress 2’s much-anticipated Summer Update this week has boosted the nearly 16-year-old multiplayer game to a new all-time record for concurrent players. ![]()
